For Long Beach Arts Month this year, we partnered with Arts for LA to create a positive advocacy campaign around the arts in Long Beach. We want to thank our City Councilmembers for their continued support of the arts, even in this extremely tough economic climate.
The Long Beach City Council recently voted to approve a budget providing continued funding support to the Arts Council for Long Beach. This decision is evidence of their great foresight in using arts and culture to further economic activity in Long Beach, build community among residents, and support cultural tourism throughout the city.
Long Beach is home to a vibrant and thriving arts core ranging from world-class art institutions with storied histories to dynamic new organizations that will carry on the legacy of the community.
October is not only National Arts & Humanities Month, it is Long Beach Arts Month, making this a perfect opportunity to thank your City Councilmember for his or her support of the arts this year and into the future.
This is where you come in….we need YOU to send a quick email to YOUR City Councilmember. This process is the easiest thing you can do in 1 minute while you are heating up yesterday’s pad thai for lunch:
1. Go to http://longbeachartsmonth.org/resources/advocacy
2. Click on your City Councilmember! (If you do not know who your city councilmember is, go to this site.)
3. You will get transferred to Arts for LA website where they have crafted a fully filled out email for you to send! Personalize it any way you would like!
4. Press SEND YOUR MESSAGE.
And that is it! Spread the word!!! Every email counts!
Three Cheers for Long Beach Arts Month!
